How do Clear Aligners Work?
Clear aligners apply gentle pressure on your teeth to shift them into the desired position. The process begins with an initial consultation at our dental office, where we will evaluate your bite and determine if invisible braces are right for you. If so, we will create a treatment plan outlining the number of aligner trays you’ll need throughout treatment and any other necessary steps (such as tooth extraction). We will then fabricate custom-made, clear aligner trays specifically designed for your unique needs from start to finish. Once treatment begins, you will switch out each set of trays each time your teeth are ready for the next stage until you reach your final result—a straighter smile!
Taking care of your teeth and clear aligners is the key to having a healthy, stunning smile. To keep up with your dental hygiene, remember to remove your aligners and brush twice a day for two minutes each time, using fluoridated toothpaste. Flossing should also be done at least once daily, preferably after every meal. It’s essential to remove your aligners when consuming any drink or food and clean them regularly. While they’re out, you can easily wash them with mild soap and rinse them with cool water.
Clear aligner treatment takes 12-18 months, depending on the patient’s goals and current misalignment issues. However, some patients may see results in as little as 6-8 months, depending on their individual needs.
